Earn 60,000 bonus miles: You’ll earn 60,000 bonus miles and 5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) after you spend $3,000 in purchases on your new card in your first 3 months.

$100 Delta statement credit: Cardholders making a Delta purchase within three months will receive a $100 statement credit.

Up to 3 miles per $1: This card earns 3 miles per $1 on Delta purchases and purchases made directly with hotels, 2 miles per $1 at restaurants and at U.S. supermarkets, and 1 mile per $1 on all other eligible purchases.

Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs): With Status Boost™, you’ll earn 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) after you spend $25,000 in purchases on your card in a calendar year. You can get this up to twice a year, getting you closer to Medallion Status. MQMs are used to determine Medallion Status (elite status tiers in the Delta SkyMiles® program) and are different from miles you earn toward flights.

Free checked bag: You and up to eight travel companions on the same reservation get a free checked bag. The cost of one checked bag with Delta is $30, so this benefit would be worth $60 for a round-trip flight — or $540 if you’re the sociable type and have eight friends coming along.

Annual companion certificate: Each year that you renew your card, you’ll receive a domestic main cabin round-trip companion certificate. This allows one companion to join you without paying for a ticket. Payment of government-imposed taxes and fees of not more than $75 is required.

Priority boarding: The Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card gets you Main Cabin Priority 1 boarding, so you can get on the plane before the general boarding group and make sure you find a spot in the overhead compartment for your carryon.

Save on in-flight purchases: You’ll receive 20% back in the form of a statement credit when you use this card for eligible Delta in-flight purchases of food, beverages, and audio headsets.

Global Entry/TSA PreCheck credit: The Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card will cover the cost of a membership with Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. If you get this card, go with the Global Entry membership, as that includes a membership to TSA PreCheck.

Travel and consumer protections: For travel protections, this card offers trip delay insurance, baggage insurance, and car rental loss and damage insurance. It also has two useful consumer protections with extended warranty coverage and purchase protection.

No foreign transaction fee: Travel credit cards usually don’t have foreign transaction fees, and this one is no exception.
