Piers Morgan blasted the Donald Trump and Joe Biden presidential debate, branding it a “trainwreck of epic proportions.”

The outspoken TV host reacted to the first US presidential debate of the year on Good Morning Britain today, having woken up at 3.30am to watch it.

Piers sat through all 90 minutes of the debate but was left disappointed and compared it to a school playground spat, the Mirror Online reports.

An annoyed Piers discussed the debate with GMB co-host Susanna Reid,  labelling it a “trainwreck of epic proportions” and a “total shambles.”

“It was vicious, personal, like a couple of kids in the playground,” Piers told viewers.

“[Biden] was not sharp, he did not react in the way he should have done,” Susanna added.

Meanwhile Piers said that host Chris Wallace had “lost control very early on”.

“It went on for 90 minutes and it was complete nonsense,” Piers said. “If you didn’t watch it I wouldn’t bother to.”

He continued: “Biden was a bit weak in standing up to Trump.”

“I’m really glad I got out of bed at 3.30am,” Piers sarcastically added. Some real quality time!”

Later on Good Morning Britain, Piers clashed with Sebastian Gorka, who refused to condemn Trump’s response to white supremacist group Proud Boys.

Sebastian insisted that he refused to “perform” for Piers after continually failing to answer the question before accusing the GMB host of “gotcha journalism”.

However, Piers retorted that he was indeed there to perform for him.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
