A South Dakota native has been selected to be the next head of Keloland Media Group.

Mari Ossenfort will be the Sioux Falls-based broadcaster’s next general manager and vice president, overseeing all digital and TV operations.

Ossenfort said Thursday her approach to leadership boils down to a simple plan for moving forward.

“My goal is the same as its always been in life – to make the station better tomorrow,” she said. “And I also believe in empowering people, inside the building and outside the building to make our community better and to make our lives better.”

Ossenfort will replace Jay Huizenga, who announced this summer he was retiring from Keloland after more than 40 years with the business.

Ossenfort, who grew up in Yankton, joined Keloland three years ago after a long career working for other broadcasters across the Dakotas, including KDLT in Sioux Falls and Forum Communcations-owned ABC affiliates in North Dakota.

Before being hired as Keloland’s newest general manager and vice president, Ossenfort was working as the station’s general sales manager.

“I feel like everything I’ve done up to this moment has prepared me,” she said.
